Blue Garden Hvar is a contemporary resort that redefines the relationship between architecture and nature – nestled within a pine forest and designed in the tones of the Mediterranean landscape, it creates a sense of luxury that does not dominate the space but interprets and respects it.
Share
Blue Garden Hvar is conceived as an architectural composition that emerges from the topography and Mediterranean landscape, rather than imposing itself upon it. The complex is designed in a terraced layout, adapting to the natural slope of the terrain, achieving visual discretion of the volumes and maximum integration into the existing green structure. The architecture behaves unobtrusively in the space, almost as an extension of the landscape rather than an object that disrupts it.
Green facades and sustainable concept
The facades are treated as vertical landscapes – heavily vegetated and layered with plants that reflect the character of the local flora. The tonal range of materials echoes the colors of pine bark, stone, and soil, allowing the buildings to blend with the surroundings and, from a distance, almost disappear into the silhouette of the hill. This “green envelope” is not merely an aesthetic feature but an active part of the sustainability concept: it reduces heat exposure, improves the microclimate, and enhances privacy.
Spatial Experience and Landscape Integration
The composition of volumes is broken into a series of lower blocks that follow the contours of the terrain, avoiding the monolithic appearance of a large resort. Each accommodation unit is designed with views of the sea and pine forest in mind, featuring large glazed surfaces and deep loggias that enable a continuous dialogue between interior and exterior. The architecture is experienced not as enclosed space but as a series of atmospheric transitions between nature and intimate living areas. Landscape design is an integral part of the architectural concept – pathways, terraces, pools, and sports facilities are carefully integrated into the terrain, following the existing contours and minimally intervening in the natural relief. Special attention is given to the waterfront, where wooden platforms and sun decks gently extend toward the sea, creating the sense of a private shoreline without compromising the natural character of the site. Blue Garden Hvar is not conceived as a conventional resort but as an architectural refuge within the landscape. The project unites contemporary design, sustainability, and subtle luxury – a luxury not based on ostentation, but on the privilege of experiencing a space where architecture respects nature and becomes an integral part of it.
