MHP PET FOOD
The project involves the reconstruction of an existing industrial building and its repurposing into a production facility for pet food located in the Municipality of Zlatar Bistrica, within the Krapina-Zagorje County.
The production complex consists of three industrial buildings and a gatehouse. On the northeastern part of the construction plot, there is an existing entrance/exit gatehouse. Along the eastern edge of the plot are buildings that will not be reconstructed or altered by this project. On the southern part of the plot, there is an existing building—a hall on whose roof a photovoltaic installation will be mounted.
To the north of the reconstructed building, there are three existing entrances that will be retained. Each entrance leads to a staircase to the upper floor, where the western and central sections contain locker rooms and sanitary facilities with showers for employees. Between the locker rooms are spaces for air handling units. On the eastern side of the upper floor, on the northern part of the building, there are additional sanitary facilities, a utility room, an archive, an office, and a meeting room. On the ground floor of the northern part, from west to east, there are sanitary facilities, a storage room for cleaning equipment, a laboratory, an archive for samples, offices, a kitchen with a dining room, an auxiliary workshop, and a compressor room. In the central part of the production hall, the production line will be installed—from meat preparation, through the cooking area (located on the first floor with an added steel structure gallery), to the filling and final packaging area. The packaged product will go through sterilization and then final packaging. The packaged products will be stored in the finished goods warehouse for cooling and then palletized for further distribution.
As part of this reconstruction, openings for outgoing trucks and trailers—ramps and docks with platforms for truck and trailer access—will be added to the western facade, in continuation of the finished goods warehouse and the cardboard box storage area. In the southwestern part, there is an existing ramp and docks with platforms that will be used for receiving raw materials for production. These materials, upon receipt, will be stored in one of the warehouses—a cold storage area (+4°C) or a frozen storage area (-20°C).
On the southern part, there are spaces for workers involved in the meat preparation phase and activities prior to cooking the meat, including locker rooms with sanitary facilities and showers, a kitchenette, and disinfection areas. Adjacent to this section of the hall on the southern side are equipment washing areas, a room for cleaning supplies, and a space for sauce production. Next to the sauce production area, there is a dry ingredient storage area required for sauce production and a storage area for packaging materials. At the southwestern corner is the boiler room and equipment spaces for refrigeration units.
In the central production area is an operator's room for the production segment (filling, sterilization, and packaging), and a room for the electrical cabinets of the production equipment.
Along the eastern facade of the central section, there is an existing transformer station that is part of the main building. Adjacent to the existing transformer station, a new one is planned to be added.
On the southern facade, there is an existing fire escape, which will be covered as part of this project. Additionally, a new fire escape will be constructed on the eastern facade. Both staircases will lead to the upper floor— the existing staircase to the area of existing office spaces and sanitary facilities for employees, and the new one to the added steel gallery, where equipment for cooking meat, mixing cooked meat with sauce, and packaging is located. The upper floor spaces are also connected to the ground floor via internal stairs. On the southern part of the production hall’s upper floor, there is also a kitchen for preparing ingredients and a room for the operator of the production segment located on the added gallery.
This production facility will be the first of its kind for producing wet pet food in Croatia. With its modern technology and the number of employees it will engage, it represents a significant investment in the local area.
